Get to Know Bridget Briscoe, FNP-BC
Coplin Health Systems is excited to announce Bridget Briscoe FNP-BC will be joining its healthcare team. Bridget will be offering acute care to Coplin patients.
We sat down with Bridget to discuss her experience working in healthcare and what she’s looking forward to in her new role at Coplin.
What drove you to choose this career path?
Being from a rural area, I saw the lack of healthcare options for residents, which is why I am dedicated to taking care of the people in our communities.
I have seen critically ill people while working in the ICU for seven years, and I want to help to prevent people from ending up in the hospital by managing outpatients and encouraging preventative health.
Activities you do beyond what most people see.
There is a lot of documenting, reviewing, and ordering labs, collaborating with nurses/MA and pharmacies. Updating chart information and keeping up to date with practice changes is also a big part of my job.
Prevention is better than intervention.
Misconceptions people often have about your job?
People usually miss the mark on the scope of practice as an advanced practice nurse.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
I find it rewarding that patients and families trust in me, and I am educated and experienced to care for them.
When not at Coplin, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, camping, and being outdoors.
What community or volunteer activities do you participate in?
I have been tied up with school recently, but I look forward to participating in many different community activities this year as I transition into my new role and into a new normal.
Professional Interests? (ie, immunizations, diabetes, healthy eating, etc.)
I’m interested in smoking cessation, COPD, exercise, and educating patients on the value of a healthy diet.
One fun fact about yourself?
I enjoy adventure – trying new things and traveling to new places!
What do you love (or look forward to) the most about your job?
Helping the people of the community.
Tell us about you personally.
I am married with two kids and have a Great Pyrenees. I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors, especially during the fall.
