Coplin Health Systems Celebrates 45 Years
This year marks an exciting milestone for Coplin Health Systems as it celebrates 45 years of providing quality healthcare to residents in the region.

Rob Dudley, Coplin Health Systems CEO
Rob Dudley, CEO of Coplin Health Systems, said it is remarkable to reflect on the rich history of the organization and its positive impact on the local communities.
“Since our founding in 1978, Coplin Health Systems has made great strides and grown into an extensive healthcare network that includes twelve clinics serving residents in four counties across two states,” Dudley said. “While our medical facilities have improved and the number of patients served has increased, our core mission of providing quality health and wellness services and compassionate care has not changed. We remain committed to our mission and have expanded our services to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve throughout the years.”
The history of Coplin Health Systems dates back to the first half of the 20th century and a family of doctors who were loyal, passionate, and believed that people shouldn’t have to travel for healthcare. Dr. Okey W. Coplin and his son Dr. Robert Coplin offered in-home healthcare to Wirt County community members.
The original Coplin Clinic was opened in 1948 by Dr. Robert Coplin after serving in the Army in World War II, a couple of years after his father passed away. The clinic was a general practice facility but expanded a year later to include a seven-bed hospital.
Dr. Darrin E. Nichols, Chief Medical Officer of Coplin Health Systems, said the success and longevity of Coplin Health Systems resulted from hard-working medical staff adhering to the highest standards and striving to deliver quality healthcare.
“Coplin Health Systems’ team of dedicated and compassionate healthcare professionals have proudly worked together to improve the health and well-being of our patients for the past 45 years,” Dr. Nichols said. “Our vision is to improve healthcare every day, so we’re not just here when people get ill; we are here to keep our patients and community well.”
Coplin Health Systems provides quality care to patients of all ages. Healthcare services offered include primary care, same-day care (short-term/urgent medical needs), women’s health, occupational health, behavioral health services, chronic disease management, and on-site pharmacies.
Recently, Coplin Health Systems announced the expansion of its Wirt County Family Care site. When completed in the Spring of 2024, the approximately $2 million project will add just over 4,000 square feet to the existing footprint of the health center. The addition will include: new medical treatment rooms, the addition of dental operatories, a larger physical therapy space, new space for behavioral health, offices for staff, a larger conference room, and a large storage area.
We appreciate the understanding of our patients as we move forward with the project of expanding our Wirt County Family Care facility and services to fulfill our mission of serving the health and wellness needs of our communities.
