Coplin Health’s “zero-condition” HRSA audit assures quality care
Elizabeth, WV (January 30, 2019) — Coplin Health Systems (CHS) is dedicated to providing quality healthcare throughout its communities. While adhering to its core values and advocating for communities in Wirt County, Jackson County, Wood County in West Virginia and Meigs County in Ohio, Coplin’s nine sites strive to provide the same outstanding care each day across state and county lines. Recently, CHS was recognized for its quality, sustainability and accessibility by its federal governing body.
To assure quality care is provided at all Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in the United States, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) conducts Onsite Visits (OSV) to ensure that healthcare clinics meet patients’ expectations and meet healthcare standards. CHS welcomed individuals from (HRSA) in December to review CHS locations. During this OSV, CHS received their first ever zero-condition audit.
HRSA conducts site visits every 24-36 months to review three main areas of the FQHC: Governance, Fiscal and Clinical. Each area then gets broken down and reviewed thoroughly. If anything is lacking according to HRSA’s standards within the review, the FQHC receives a “condition.” CHS has been working for the better part of the year to achieve this very rare perfect score.
A few of the items reviewed in the area of ‘Governance’ is the leadership review of Coplin’s CEO, COO and administration team, board bylaws and HR Policy and Procedures. For ‘Clinical’ it is credentialing and privileging of providers, Clinical Policy and Procedures, and reviewing the ways clinical quality improvement and risk management are conducted. For ‘Fiscal,’ budgets, contracts, and Billing Policy and Procedures are all reviewed.
Interim CEO, Rob Dudley, is thrilled to praise staff for this tremendous accolade. “The entire Coplin team deserves recognition for this outstanding accomplishment,” Dudley says, “Each of the sixteen members of management had a vital role in preparing for the OSV. The managers and their teams were prepared to answer questions the OSV team asked about policy and procedures that govern their job responsibilities.”
Holli Ludtman, Office Manager, adds, “Receiving this zero-condition audit should serve as reassurance that Coplin is dedicated to providing the best care possible in our communities. Because of our dedicated team and this OSV we can continue to assure our patients we are working tirelessly for your family’s health and future.”
