Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS)

Murrita Bolinger, FNP

Murrita Bolinger, Chief Medical Officer

A Message from Murrita Bolinger, Chief Medical Officer:

At Coplin Health Systems, we care about the health and wellness of you and your families and want to share an important message about a condition impacting children: Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS). I’ve invited Dr. Cathy Dailey, our pediatric specialist, to share information regarding this condition:

Dr. Cathy Dailey, Pediatric Specialist

Parents and guardians, please monitor your children for the following symptoms associated with MIS: fever, abdominal pain, vomiting diarrhea, neck pain, rash, bloodshot eyes, and fatigue. If your child has any of these symptoms, contact our office immediately so we can either see your child or direct you to the ER for more supportive care. If your child has trouble breathing, chest pain, confusion, lethargy, bluish lips, or severe abdominal pain, a parent or guardian should seek emergency care right away.
While MIS does not appear to be widespread at this time, it can cause a significant negative impact on the heart (circulatory system). Early detection and treatment are critical, so please contact your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider if they have any of the symptoms.
