We sat down with Lauren to find out what she’s looking forward to in this new role and what she loves the most about working in the healthcare field.
First of all, where will you be working and what kind of patients will you be caring for?
I’ll be working at the Parkersburg locations and providing care for patients of all ages who suffer from acute to chronic diseases. I’ll also offer preventative health screenings and physical exams.
What drove you to join the healthcare field?
I wanted to be part of a team that cares for the betterment, health and wellness of others.
What do you hope to achieve in this role?
I’m hoping that once I am certified I will have a part in adding lactation and breastfeeding support for our patients.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
I really enjoy developing relationships with patients and their families and being part of the recovery process. I get to see the worst, but also the best part of patients’ recovery. I also enjoy being able to provide knowledge to patients on how to prevent health complications.
What are some of your professional interests?
I’m fascinated by vaccines and disease prevention, women’s health, cancer screening, diabetes/obesity and breastfeeding/postpartum care.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time with my husband and two sons. I also enjoy reading fiction and medical journals, staying active by running and playing basketball and spending time with friends. I’m a big football fan and I stay active in my church –St. John Catholic Church!
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I was on the Today Show! I was interviewed by Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb.
