Groundbreaking Held for Wirt County Family Care Expansion
Coplin Health Systems hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the start of construction on the expansion of its Wirt County Family Care site.
Rob Dudley, CEO of Coplin Health Systems, said this expansion is in response to the organization’s recognition of the importance of supporting a rural community by providing convenient access to primary care and urgent care services close to home.
“We are excited for this new addition to our Wirt County Family Care location which will allow us to better serve patients and residents in the Wirt County area,” Dudley said. “This initiative will provide more space for our healthcare providers and administrative support staff, as well as larger areas for our physical therapy and behavioral health services, making the facility more user-friendly for patients.”
“When completed, the approximately $2 million project will add just over 4,000 square feet to the existing footprint of the health center” explained Rick Crispen, Facilities Director of Coplin Health Systems. “The addition will include three new medical treatment rooms, several new offices for staff, a larger conference room, and a large storage area. Site work should begin a month from now, with construction expected to be completed by Spring of 2024.”
Wirt County Family Care provides quality care to patients of all ages. Healthcare services offered include primary care, acute care services (short-term/urgent medical needs), women’s health, occupational health, behavioral health services, chronic disease management, and an on-site pharmacy.
“This expansion is an investment in our community and furthers Coplin Health Systems’ commitment to serve the health and wellness needs of the Wirt County community,” stated Dudley.
Wirt County Family Care is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 304-275-3301 or visit coplinhealth.com.
Coplin Health Systems received support for this project from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of an award totaling $675,000, with 40 percent financed by non-governmental sources. Pickering Associates designed the new addition and Phoenix and Associates will complete the construction phase of the construction project.
