Longtime Coplin Nurse Practitioner Among ‘40 Under 40’

Jessica Wooten, DNP

A longtime nurse practitioner of Coplin Health Systems (CHS) has been selected as a 2019 Future of Nursing WV Emerging Nurse Leader Award winner.

Jessica Wooten, DNP, who has dedicated her career to Coplin Health Systems, will be presented with this prestigious award on Sept. 28 at the Future of Nursing WV Fundraising and Awards Gala. Each year, the gala celebrates and recognizes 40 young nurses who demonstrate exemplary nursing leadership by presenting them with the “40 under 40″ Emerging Nurse Leader Award.

“I am excited to receive this award alongside so many amazing nurse leaders in our state,” said Wooten, a proud West Virginia University alumna. “I’m proud to represent a group of nurses that are taking their knowledge, experience, and leadership outside of the exam room and into the board room. Nurses are on the frontlines of care and when given a seat at the table, their unique perspectives can help systems at the local, state, and national levels build healthier and more inclusive communities.”

Aside from her commitment to Coplin Health Systems, Wooten serves on the board of the Down Syndrome Network of West Virginia, the Wood County Society, and the West Virginia Early Intervention Interagency Coordinating Council. She is also active in the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network Parent Advisory Council, Jackson County Youth Soccer League, West Virginia Special Olympics, and Read Aloud.

Wooten has been married for ten years and has three children. When she’s not working or serving with community organizations, she enjoys traveling and reading.
